It's a Holey World

Nothing is Free the sign read so I filled my pockets full   It is the smallest that we revere and honor for what they might be   We live or manifest in a very holey reality. Atoms are mostly empty space. Protons are mostly empty space as well and quarks could hardly be called things being only 1/3 or 2/3 charge.   Just how small is an atom? Click Here for a 6 minute video   Why are atoms so small?   If a proton (hydrogen's nucleus) were the size of a basketball, then its electron would be about the size of a golf ball and at ground state it would be flying "in orbit" approximately 5 miles (~8 km) away!   Imagine that the nucleus of an atom was the size of our sun; in that case the closest electron would be beyond Mars. If an apple were enlarged to the size of the Earth, its individual atoms would be the size of regular apples.   If a proton were enlarged to the size of our Solar System, a quark would be the size of a tree.   After the separation of gravity and nuclear forces, the spacetime of the Universe is distinct from matter and radiation We manifest in a 'energy field' with very little substance (matter) in it. Matter, the stuff that bends and distorts spacetime.   Protons will persist for at least 1.29×10^34 years.
