I came to Portland Oregon February 1st 2008. I lived in the Bay Area for five years and in Oregon thirty years before that. Oregon is very green and a lot colder than California. It snowed on February 2nd while I was staying at a hostel near downtown Portland.
Looking for work
I've spent the past month looking for a job. Seems to be difficult this time of year and probably related to the economic issues that we are all facing. I have sent out more than forty applications during the month of February. One sort of interview and one email promise of a phone interview that never happened.
I spent some time getting some of my art printed for a March Digital Dimensions Show put on by Mount Hood Community College. I am still waiting to see if I get juried in. I can not imagine why I woulodn't based upon some of the other artists web sites I visited.
I had to purchase a bed. The one in the apartment is very old and worn out. I have not been sleeping soundly since I became a roommate in this apartment. I slept on the couch last night and expect to do so again tonight. THe bed I ordered was due to have been delivered 2/29/08 but the Fed-Ex folks put it on the wrong truck and now it won't be here until Monday :-(
